This is when you think "Why can I not just hire a MARKETER to do the marketing, selling and icky promotions ?" yeah, RIGHT ? How did that GO ?
So there's TWO approaches ....
1. INTERNAL - bring a dedicated salesman, marketer, call it what you like on to your team full time, train them, babysit them and let them do the icky promotional work, and ...
2. EXTERNAL - hire an external marketer, capital introducer, fund raiser, 3rd party marketer, call it what you like - have them represent you, find clients, investors and you pay them a 'SUCCESS FEE'
THE PROBLEM
This method, while effective in some very rare cases, can be very damaging because ... 1.) marketers are like 🅿️ parking spaces - 'The GOOD ones are taken, and the rest are HANDICAPPED ... 2.) not only will it take a year to see if they're any good ... 3.) but the damage to your brand and reputation can be severe and irreversible ... 4.) and if they were any good, they'd be doing this on their own.
DISCLAIMER
In 35+ years of 'Raising Capital' we have met 4 or 5 extraordinary External Marketers that are now multi-millionaires and are at the very top of their craft.
